Bridge of Weir cyclist and hobby photographer, Alan Gilmour, cycles 50 kilometers every week. On a recent cycle and as part of the LEAP Cycle for Summer, he stopped to take a photograph of a key landmark on the Glasgow to Greenock cycle path.
Sited between Bridge of Weir and Kilmacolm on the Cycle 75 track, cyclists pass a sculpture locally known as ‘the soldiers’ but named ‘the Legion of Soldiers’ or ‘the Lost Roman Legion’ by sculpture David Kemp, who utilises junk and recycled materials in his work. This artwork has become a landmark for cyclists to the area and Alan has kindly shared this selfie with LEAP. ‘This cycle route is inspiring and well worth a stop to take in this outstanding landmark.’
