About the event
If you thought we were done for 2024, think again. Warm up your Halloween with our Parade extravaganza on 31st October! We will be bringing the village a celebration of the amazing creative skills locally in visual arts, music and dance. And if that weren't enough, we'll be taking it to Paisley to join their Halloween Festival on Saturday 26th October.
If you have small people who want to go out guising, don't worry, we'll be keeping it punchy to make sure the kids don't miss out. And we'll also provide a free hotdog and some sweeties at the end of the parade to get them started.Â
Our theme is Scottish Mythology and Folklore. You can get involved if you would like to join free workshops making large-scale feature lanterns with community Artists Jane McInally and Lesley Downie. To book click here.
The parade will also include flag wavers choreographed by Jane Simpson - if you would be interested in flag waving, we would love to hear from you. We already have 50 local kids making smaller lanterns through workshops hosted at Lochwinnoch Primary School, and these children will be invited to make up part of both parades. We hope to schedule more sessions for others to join over the October holidays - watch this space.
If you're involved in a community group which would like to make something, we would love to hear from you. We can potentially even help with materials and providing time with an Artist if that is required. We want people of all ages to be part of this event.
We're delighted to confirm that Bloco Winnoch and Absurdist Pipe Band will both be performing in the parade too! Â The parade will be followed by a short gathering in the Park where we have a Fire Picture finale planned. Don't miss out.Â
We're looking for volunteers for a range of roles and also donations of materials. If you've got fabric or other items which could be used we would love to hear from you. We'll would also welcome volunteer stewards and helpers for the Lochwinnoch leg. Get in touch if you're interested.
