Time & Location

16 May 2024, 18:00 – 19:00

McKillop Institute, Room 2, Main St, Lochwinnoch PA12 4AJ, UK

About the event

This time we’ll be continuing to develop our practices begun in the first workshop. Master Tan will discuss the thinking in relation to the practice of meditation of Master Dhammaga (a Buddhist monk in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, and Master Tan’s Master) and introduce different exercises for participants to try, test, and explore.

This workshop will take us further into practices that can be used to preserve our inner balance while we deal with daily life. It can be attended as a one-off, but there is a follow up workshop (Stillness in Movement 3 - Awakening our Healing Power, May 17th) which is recommended.

Please bring a yoga mat or something similar, and a tea cup!

“I was thoroughly fascinated by the meditation event. Very interesting… It seemed to me at the beginning of the event that that was Tan’s general approach to it. It was to be a practical thing. That then seemed to be expressed by the wee exercise with the candles, which seemed a good way to show you something, to get you thinking, and then to get you doing… All in, I think it was a splendid thing. It had some entertainment, some information, some philosophical musing (nearly), some wee stories, some practical bits, some hard-edged experience… all good things to set off the meditation ball rolling for folk, get them engaged.”

“His teaching is straight to the point.. he just says it as it is.. I find that easy to understand.

His practical examples of what Meditation is was excellent and very effective and the fact we all got to walk outside in our bare feet definitely wakened us up. From now on I know what to do when I need to stop and think!”

About Master Tan, a Traditional Thai Massage healer and teacher:

Master Tan is a traditional Thai massage healer and teacher based in Germany, with many years of experience, and he wishes to share his compassion in Thai massage and Buddhist practice. He has taught various aspects of Thai massage healing and mindfulness and mediation in many countries in Europe.

His first visit to Scotland was in 2013 (Kilbirnie/Edinburgh) and he came again in 2017 (Beith Trust, Geilsland, Beith) and he travelled to Lochwinnoch in 2022 to deliver sold-out mediation workshops as part of last year's Feel Good Festival. All workshops were organised in partnership with Moonie, Thamma Thai Wellness, Lochwinnoch.

Tan and his Team entered the World Massage Championship 2023 - International Massage Association where Tan won first place across the multidisciplne competition, with many of his pupils also scooping up prizes and places in various categories.

Tan, along with other members of Thamma's incredible network and Tan's Massage Academy, who are travelling from across Europe, can be met at our Wellbeing Fair where they will be offering free Thai Massage Taster Treatments. We're so excited to have them involved in this year's festival.
