New, Exciting Ways to Support Lochwinnoch Larder!

Last year we carried out a consultation on how we could generate more income through the Larder, while not creating barriers for those who perhaps can’t always afford to put money in the donation box. The results of that survey showed us that there are many people who use the service who would be keen to give via a regular monthly donation, and others who might struggle to do this. The truth is that while we would prefer not to monetise the project, finding the right model to boost income is the only way we can keep the Larder running longer term. Funding is more and more difficult to secure these days, and costs are rising all the time.
We don’t want to create a blanket, one-size-fits-all system. The consultation results suggested that the following would be a fairer way to move forward. Therefore we’re implementing:
An optional recurring monthly donation scheme. This has a gift aid option to maximise your donation, and it can be for any amount. This regular income will help us to cover our monthly costs.
A card payment system on the ground as well as the usual cash donation tub for anyone who wants to donate/top-up donations this way. This also has the option for gift aid.
The types of costs this will help us pay include:
Utility bills
Costs associated with growing food
Volunteer fuel expenses
Equipment and sundries
Staff costs
Refuse collection fees
We know that the cost of living crisis is still really impacting many households and we will always maintain dignity for all members of our project. We only ask that if you can afford to donate in any way, you please support us. We’re happy to receive any questions about this. The link for setting up your recurring monthly donation is below, however this can also be done at the Larder via the card donation station.
In terms of donation amounts, anything at all really helps us. We’re asking Members to consider how much money the Larder saves you on a monthly basis from purchasing food elsewhere - maybe your direct debit could be made up of a portion of this sum? And it’s great if people want to arrange a regular payment for an amount that allows them to still top-up donations when they visit.
