Granny Mutch

We're excited to share with everyone details of our new charity shop and community space. Our working name for the project has been The Old Bank which is a reference to the previous use of the building, but we now have a new name for this project - Granny Mutch!

Granny Mutch was a historic character from the village who sold odds and ends, including thread. We hope you love her as mutch as we do. We feel naming the space after her is a nod to Lochwinnoch's past generations, but also brings the warm an inviting feeling we are striving to create.

Our hopes for Granny's are that it becomes more than just a shop; we want this to be a destination where anyone can pop in for a look around, a stop, and a blether. It's about social inclusion and creating a space which can be accessed by everyone. We will have a meeting room which will be available for hire for small gatherings, and we hope to arrange mending days from the get-go where you can bring in your clothes to be altered or mended. Later phases of the project will hopefully see pop-up food events and other workshops take place. We're actively recruiting volunteers now. Get in touch if you would be interested in joining the team.

We're able to accept donations of clothes and goods now. Please get in touch to arrange drop off, or if you have any questions about the project.

When will we be open? We hope to be ready in early May, but we'll keep everyone updated. Please follow our social media for more information: www.facebook.com/grannymutch

We would like to once again thanks Renfrewshire Council's Villages Investment Fund, and CLLDs Local Action Group for the funding which has made this project possible.
